SHIPPING:
- All items offered for sale on o-n-b.com, or though our presences on other platforms (i.e; eBay, Etsy, Facebook), are in our possession at our facility in Pennsylvania, USA. We do not drop-ship or consign with any third party.
- Items listed under the "Coming Soon" section are not yet available for sale but will be held for interested parties.
- We will not ship anything until all balances due, including any applicable shipping charges, are paid-in-full. This is mostly relevant to Facebook purchases wherein the purchaser has requested a payment arrangement.
- Packages are shipped on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday excluding federal holidays. We do not ship on Tuesdays or weekends. All items paid for by 7pm will ship on the following shipping day.
- We ship via USPS and always physically take each package to a live person at the counter and watch them scan it and get a receipt. We will use UPS for excessively large items and we will not ever use FedEx.
- We do not ship anything at all outside of the U.S. Again, no international shipping on anything at all, ever. Please do not ask.
- We will not knowingly send any item to any state whose laws prohibit it. That said, it is the buyer's responsibility to know their state and local laws.
- Some categories of items include free shipping, others do not. Etsy practically requires us to offer free shipping on everything, though the prices are inflated accordingly. Our website calculates shipping charges automatically and we use PirateShip otherwise. The costs are practically the same.
- Due to the uniqueness of each piece we do not accept returns. However, each package is sent with insurance and so we can offer a refund for any carrier damage only after the insurance claim has been settled and for that to happen we may need for the damaged item to be returned.
ACCURACY:
- Each item is "what you see is what you get" and we will not replace it with a similar or like specimen.
- On o-n-b.com items are listed individually. Etsy offers a drop-down menu for selection. However, eBay purchases for listings with multiple specimens will require the buyer to message us with their selection.
- Animal products are natural items and it should be expected that there is some variance, damage, discoloration or loss to some specimens. As is common practice, teeth or other small pieces may be glued in place. We will do our best to notate this in the listing, but please look closely at the photos and ask any questions that you may have. Feel free also to request additional photos. As collectors ourselves, our preference is that the mandibles not be glued. That said, some specimens arrive to us in that way. This will be noted in the listing.
- All measurements are shown in metric units because this is how we catalog our own collection and have found it to me more accurate. Please do not mistake this as meaning that we are overseas. You are encouraged to use a conversion calculator available online if you do not understand. That said, measurements are not guaranteed due to variances in measuring equipment. Determination of the sex of a specimen is based on tangible and demonstrable dimorphism in a given species and is likewise not guaranteed. Binomial nomenclature given represents the most recently accepted taxonomy at the time of listing.
- Species are listed in good faith using identification from our suppliers in conjunction with comparisons to existing specimens in our own collection, as well as online references. As differences can sometimes be very subtle, we cannot and will not guarantee the accuracy of all specimens. We do, however, guarantee that we will have done our due diligence in attempting to properly identify it, that we will neither knowingly nor willfully misrepresent a specimen, and that you will receive the very specimen pictured. We are happy to provide additional information and photos to help you to supplement your own research on a specimen.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY:
- We strive to be competitively priced to other sellers offering similar specimens in the same marketplace. Oftentimes we are able to offer a lower price than they do and we adhere to the credo " we're trying to make a living, not a killing." That is not to disparage other sellers, we are just simply not in it for the money. We take great pride in supplying quality pieces to hobbyists, serious collectors and even museums.
- We may offer the same specimens concurrently across multiple marketplaces. The prices are not always the same and will depend on the fees associated with the individual venue. While we will always make our best effort to remove listings across all platforms once an item has sold, in instances where an item has sold multiple times, we will always honor the first sale and refund subsequent purchasers. Other than our weekly Facebook Live 4MDM auctions (the most exciting hour on Facebook!) the best price is right here at o-n-b.com.
- That said, we will not refund the difference if you see that we had listed the item elsewhere at a lower price; we do not competitor-match other sellers, nor ourselves. The prices you see an item listed for on eBay, for example, accounts for the fees associated with selling on eBay. If you've purchased the item through eBay, we will have incurred those fees in listing, promoting and selling the item.
ORIGINS, ETHICS AND LEGALITY:
- We are licensed importers with USFWS and we do a declaration on every single shipment that arrives from outside of the United States. We are also a registered LLC and hold a trading assistant's license in Pennsylvania.
- We will not knowingly ship specimens to states where we know them to be prohibited.
- The majority of specimens we offer are Non-CITES or CITES-II. This means that they are legal to import and to buy, own and sell within the United States. Again, we do not ship internationally under any circumstance. If you plan to export any CITES-listed specimens you will need to obtain a permit from USFWS. We may also sometimes offer CITES-III specimens from non-listed populations. These are treated similarly to CITES-II, whereas those from listed populations would be treated as CITES-I. We also may offer, from time-to-time, CITES-I or MMPA-listed specimens. These will include the necessary documentation. Any ESA-listed specimens will be for sale to Pennsylvania residents only. We do not offer any MBTA or WBCA-listed birds.
- As ethics and morality are ambiguous, subjective and esoteric constructs we do not vouch for the ethical sourcing of specimens as your ethics may differ from ours which may differ from those of our suppliers. Many specimens may be the byproduct of sustenance hunting or "bushmeat" practices. We do not knowingly condone any poaching activities, but we are cognizant of disparate cultural norms across different societies. Many of our domestic specimens are the byproduct of trapping, hunting or other such practices, and others still may be farm-raised.
- We work with various suppliers from many different nations, and we ask that they follow the applicable laws in their jurisdiction. These may be substantially different from the laws and regulations here in the United States; however, we interact in good faith that they are not engaging in any illegal activity. Note that CITES-II applies to export only and as an importer we do not receive any identifying documentation with these specimens as permits would have been filed with authorities in the nation of origin.
